Lindsay Lohan Flooded With Fan Mail Behind Bars

LOS ANGELES - When Lindsay Lohan is released from jail, she'll have to catch up on her reading.

The "Mean Girls" star is receiving about 250 letters a day at the women's lockup in Lynwood, Calif. - but she can't get through it all.

"You only get 10 letters at any one time, and deliveries are only once or twice a day," Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore said Thursday.

"Most inmates don't get anywhere near that kind of mail. It will be given to her or an associate when she leaves."

The actress is serving a 90-day sentence for violating probation on her 2007 DUI case. She's expected to be sprung early next week.

"She looks gorgeous...She's writing a lot. She's creating art," Lohan's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told People.com after a jail visit Wednesday.

"She's a beautiful, talented, creative woman, and she's going to come out and surprise you all."

Though rumors have swirled the starlet is enjoying special perks, Whitmore said she's getting the same treatment as any inmate in protective custody.

She was allowed to keep her flowing blond hair extensions because they were "sewn into her scalp or bonded," he said.

"It would be like a surgical procedure to remove them," he said. "If they're clip-on, you have to remove them like any personal property. But hers are permanently adhered, so she still has them. We do that for anybody."
